The Economic Impact of Florida's Nonprofits
Florida's nonprofit organizations create jobs, generate revenue, pay wages, and produce economic activity that extends far beyond their own operations. Through their direct, indirect, and induced economic effects, nonprofit spending and employment support businesses, workers, and communities throughout Florida.
Released in May 2026, Florida Nonprofit Alliance's 2026 Economic Impact of Florida's Nonprofits Report found that Florida's 23,224 qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofits hold $312.4 billion in assets, generate $140.4 billion in annual revenue, directly employ 517,585 people, pay $34.7 billion in annual wages and contribute $329.4 billion in total economic output statewide.

Florida Nonprofits Survey
Florida Nonprofit Alliance has conducted regular surveys of the Florida nonprofit sector since April 2020, providing ongoing insight into the sector’s strengths and the evolving challenges nonprofit organizations face.
Released in March 2026, our most recent report found that nearly 60% of Florida nonprofits experienced increased costs for recurring expenses in 2025, 40% raised less money for program expenses, staff and board burnout affected about one in five nonprofits, and two-thirds of nonprofits saw no increase in unrestricted revenue with 30% reported having no reserve funds at all.

Compensation and Benefits Survey (Coming Soon)

Florida Nonprofit Alliance, along with partners from across the state, is pleased to launch the first ever comprehensive, statewide compensation and benefits survey. Compensating employees - the people who work hard to make our communities better places to live - is one of the most important strategies to ensure organizational quality and sustainability.
This survey supports the development of a comprehensive Compensation & Benefits Report and Dashboard that provides benchmarking data for a wide range of nonprofit positions across organizations of varying sizes throughout Florida.
Results of the 2026 Compensation & Benefits Survey will be released Fall 2026.
