Communities are the economic, social, and environmental foundation of our lives. Community impacts our children’s framework of value, ethics, and knowledge, and the availability and quality of education shapes their future. In times of crisis or hardship, communities come together to share resources and join hands to assist those in need.

This is the role of Step Up Suncoast: to provide the support needed to stabilize local families in the short-term, so that they achieve long-term self-sufficiency and contribute to the well-being of our communities.

Step Up Suncoast impacts the lives of more than 10,000 people annually who live in cities, rural areas, suburbs, and towns across Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Manatee, and Sarasota counties.

For nearly 60 years, Step Up Suncoast has helped working families, parents, and seniors across all of these diverse areas to gain self-sufficiency for themselves and future generations.

Step Up’s representative board of government and business leaders, as well as families served, gives us a unique, local, and regional insight into the communities that make up the five counties we serve on Florida’s Central Suncoast. Guided by a Community Needs Assessment and governed by local leaders, as well as representative residents, Step Up Suncoast has been a leader in ensuring individuals, families, and their communities thrive across the Suncoast since 1968.
