Volunteer Florida is Florida’s lead agency for volunteerism and national service, administering more than $32 million in federal, state, and local funding to deliver high-impact national service and volunteer programs in Florida. Volunteer Florida promotes and encourages volunteerism to meet critical needs across the state. Volunteer Florida also serves as Florida’s lead agency for volunteers and donations before, during, and after disasters. AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Cat Keen is the National Service Programs Director for Volunteer Florida, the Governor’s Commission on Community Service. She oversees grant management, technical assistance; training and compliance associated with federal grants including AmeriCorps State programs for Florida, approximately $21 million of federal funds annually. Cat received a Bachelor of Arts degree in cultural anthropology and a Master of Social Work degree from Florida State University. Cat also received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix and has studied diverse community systems in eleven countries. Cat loves spending time camping with her family and volunteering. She serves as an appointed member of the Leon County Government Human Service Citizen Committee, a neighborhood board member for Leon County’s Council of Neighborhood Associations and President Elect of the Board of Directors for America’s Second Harvest Food Bank of the Big Bend. Cat is a 2016 recipient of the Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle and one of the 2017 Tallahassee Democrat’s 25 Women You Should Know.
